Homelessness among mobile EU citizens: New data from four European cities

FEANTSA and members are continuing the conversation initiated last year about the situation of mobile EU citizens experiencing homelessness in Europe. This December we will develop the discussions and bring new data to the table from more European cities: Brussels, Barcelona, Münster and Stockholm. Register in time to join the discussion and learn more about the rights, living conditions, background, impact of the COVID 19 pandemic and the main challenges that mobile EU citizens face in host Member States. The reality of mobile EU citizens who do not have access to the rights enshrined in the treaties of the functioning of the EU becomes clear as the number of those who experience homelessness across Member States has been on the rise. Comprehensive data about EU citizens and the factors that push individuals into destitution remain scarce. This is a major challenge in developing support solutions and policies to prevent homelessness among people engaging in free movement.

As part of the PRODEC (Protecting the Rights of Destitute mobile EU citizens) project, FEANTSA initiated a data collection process in four European cities. Our members at DiogenesBruss’helpArrels Fundacio, Bischof-Hermann-Stiftung and Crossroads worked over the past two years to investigate closer the living situations of destitute and homeless mobile EU citizens. Our aim is to increase the knowledge on this topic and to put it on the public agendas of the European and national institutions.

Translation will be available in English, Spanish and German. More information and registration.
